Linda Sparrowe

Linda Sparrowe has a long and varied career as a writer, editor, speaker, and mentor in the holistic healing arena, with a special emphasis on women’s health. As the former editor-in-chief of Yoga International magazine and past managing editor of Yoga Journal, Linda has been instrumental in bringing the authentic voice of yoga to thousands of practitioners—and teachers—who are ready to take their practice to the next level.

She has lent her writing and editing skills to a variety of book projects, including, most recently, editorial direction for and ghost-writing of a celebrity memoir and a spiritual self-help book. She has authored several books of her own including Yoga At Home: Inspiration for Creating Your Own Personal Practice (Rizzoli Publications);  YogaMamaA Woman’s Book of Yoga and Health: A Lifelong Guide to Wellness (with Patricia Walden); Yoga for Healthy Bones and Yoga for Healthy Menstruation (all Shambhala Publication titles); and Yoga: A Yoga Journal Book, a coffee table book which chronicles the history of yoga and showcases more than 350 photographs of awe-inspiring yoga poses (by David Martinez).

Linda is on the advisory board of the Yoga and Body Image Coalition and has contributed a chapter in the book Yoga and Body Image (Llewellyn Pubs, 2014) and the foreword to the upcoming book Yoga and Eating Disorders.  Her talks and practices on body image appear on yogaanytime.com, as well as in audio and video interviews online. She is featured in the films Yoga Woman and What Is Real? a film about Jivamukti Yoga.

A long-time yoga teacher from OM yoga/NYC, Linda co-leads the Courageous Women, Fearless Living retreats for women touched by cancer—her heart's work. She also leads workshops for yoga teachers on how to teach women who may be facing any number of challenges from body issues to anxiety or depression.
