Kristine Kaoverii Weber - Author, Yoga Teacher and Trainer
Kristine Kaoverii is the author of Healing-Self Massage (Sterling 2005). Kaoverii (pronounced “Co-very”) began studying yoga when she was 11 with her hippie social studies teacher, and has been hooked ever since. She graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A./M.A. in literature and went on to pursue studies in yoga and Asian bodywork therapy in California. After spending four years studying with yoga and healing arts teachers in India and other Asian countries, she returned to the U.S. and has been teaching yoga since 1996.
She has trained in Vini yoga, Anusara yoga, Kripalu yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Ananda Marga yoga and Iyengar yoga, and has an extensive understanding of both physical and energetic alignment. She has also been studying Chinese medicine and Shiatsu since 1990 which has provided her with a deep awareness of body mechanics and energy flow.
She is the creator of Subtle Yoga and the director of the Subtle Yoga Teacher Training and Personal Transformation Program. Kaoverii's training includes living and studying with sanyasins (yogic renunciates) as well as study of Vini, Iyengar, Anusara and Vinyasa yoga. Her many years of bodywork training is evidenced in her ability to assist students in discovering optimal form, alignment and prana (vital energy) flow in their practice. Kaoverii catalyzes students in their use of yoga practice as a vehicle for self-transformation. She has spent many years teaching yoga to the elderly and wheelchair bound, is dedicated to various seva (service) projects and enjoys most the devotional practices of bhakti yoga. Students comment that in addition to her warm, open style, she has the rare ability to make complex philosophical concepts easily understood. Kaoverii lives with her husband and son in Asheville, North Carolina.
